In an interview with the American website Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Costner spoke about the disappointing results of his film “Horizon: An American Saga” after its launch in the United States. The actor wants to remain confident and positive.
No regrets. With only $11 million in revenue for its opening weekend in the United States, the film “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1” – the first part of a cinematic saga divided into four parts – has had a more than timid start at the box office. Which suggests the worst for Kevin Costner who had a budget of $100 million – $38 million of which came from his personal fortune – for this western in which he plays the main role.
The 69-year-old actor, however, was keen to appear confident despite the disappointment of the first figures. In an interview with the American site Entertainment Weeklyhe explains that he is not overly worried after this first weekend. He claims to be delighted, whatever happens, with the film itself, which is exactly what he wanted to offer the public.
“I’ve been through this with movies and their opening weekend numbers. If you put too much pressure on yourself, you’re bound to be disappointed. I’m very happy that Horizon is what I imagined it to be, and that’s how it’s going to stay throughout its life. And that’s what was important to me,” he says wisely. “Would I like it to be a big hit? Sure! My ego would like that, everybody would like that. But what I’m most happy about is that the movie we’re talking about is exactly what I wanted it to be,” he adds.
As a reminder, a second film is due to be released in theaters on August 16th across the Atlantic (September 11th in France), while the third part is currently being filmed. It is not known at this time how the box office results of these first two films will influence the feasibility of a fourth film. “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1” is expected in French theaters from this Wednesday, July 3rd.
