The 2024 edition of the bullfighting fair was a total success with cattle of impeccable presentation and many bulls shone in the three shows. Nino Julian, Clemente Jaume and Isaac Galvin were the three matadors who opened the big door.

In an exceptional assessment on the sand for this 8e edition of “Toros y Campo”, the only downside was at the ticket office. Boujan did not manage to ride the wave of the strong increase in attendance in France and Spain and the stands were only partially filled for the two novilladas with piquées and sounded quite empty for the non-piquée.

Clemente Jaume leaves in triumph for the opening

“When you see the quality of the three novilladas and the success of our campo de Feria, I despair of seeing these arenas fill up” regretted Marin Laval. It must be said that bad luck followed bad luck for the organizers. Chicharro’s withdrawal and the rainfall all day weighed on the success of the opening novillada. The next day, Boujan’s presence in the final of the French rugby championship and the legislative elections caused many local fans or loyal fans who travel from other departments to lose their way.

On the other hand, on the track, Boujan had the best feria in its history for this 8e edition. With cattle worthy of first-class bullrings in their size and armor and a percentage of very high quality novillos. For the opening novillada, five of the six novillos from Valverde and Turquay maintained constant interest among the aficionados. If Jesus Moreno and Cid de Maria had an exemplary attitude and a will at all times, they only partially took advantage of the potential of their opponents.

Biterrois Clemente Jaume, who came in as a last-minute replacement for the injured Alejandro Chicharro, did not let the opportunity slip by by opening the big door. His two voluntary and technical faenas were rewarded with a deserved ear.

The beautiful discovery Isaac Galvin

The morning novillada without picador on Sunday was marked by a batch of novillos from Roland Durand of exceptional nobility. This show was the opportunity to discover Adrian Monroy (one ear) and especially Isaac Galvin. Rarely have we seen a “becerrista” with such little experience bullfight with so much class, slowness and depth for the 4th paseo of his career. The arenas capsized for the hope of Chiclana who cut off two ears.

Finally, the Guadaira cattle also showed a lot of nobility and class in the muletas of the three novilleros. The two Spaniards could have accompanied Nino Julian in his triumphant exit, but Mario Navas and Samuel Navalon lost a second ear in the thrust. But the latter justified his rank as a star novillero as his bullfighting overflows with classicism, class and purity. Nino Julian had one of the greatest successes of his career and established himself, for the second consecutive year, as the triumphant of “Toros y Campo”.

He proved the power of his muleta against his violent and demanding first novillo from Valverde, and demonstrated an important dimension of his bullfighting against his excellent second from Guadaira. When the steels are there as on Sunday, this evolution during the faenas complements his natural ease and variety with the cape and banderillas and is a guarantee of success.
