the essential
Two artists are in the spotlight: the painter Marcel Lenoir and the painter and sculptor, Alain Laborde.

Montricoux is a picturesque fortified village on the banks of the Aveyron whose streets are lined with medieval half-timbered and corbelled houses. You will also find the Marcel-Lenoir museum there because it is in this village that the painter came to retire at the end of his life. He died there in 1931.

The stable is in turn transformed into a museum

It was in 1983 that Claude and France Namy inaugurated the family castle-museum of Montricoux. Today, it is run by the couple’s children, Marie-Ange and Jean-Baptiste.

During his lifetime, Marcel Lenoir stayed at the Château de Montricoux and even set up a studio there. Visitors can thus move from room to room to discover the painter’s 140 works. Since 2021, the museum has taken a new turn, since in addition to this collection, the château has opened a new space entirely dedicated to the contemporary artist, Alain Laborde. The artist, grateful for the family’s support, donated numerous paintings and sculptures to the museum in order to enrich the rooms dedicated to him.

All were installed in the old restored stables of the castle.
