Letizia from Spain is often noted for her sense of style during her official outings. Between
tradition and modernitythe queen regularly opts for looks combining ultra-refined pieces and an avant-garde touch, which recalls her certain taste for fashion.

In a new portrait, accessible to the public from November 27 at the Bank of Spain, Letizia once again pays homage to designer clothes by striking a pose in a long black sheath signed Balenciaga, dating from 1948. To complete her outfit, the queen, who is standing in the middle of a finely decorated room, also wears a large red bouffant shawl, from the same brand.

Letizia of Spain: the queen wears jewelry full of history in her latest portrait

In addition to highlighting the history of fashion, Letizia of Spain is inspired by the great Iberian queens by sporting
historical jewelry. Indeed, the river of diamonds which borders his neck and the large pendants in his ears were offered to Queen Victoria Eugénie by King Alfonso XIII, Felipe's great-grandfather, in 1906.

A heritage delicately highlighted in this portrait captured by the American photographer Annie Leibovitz. The artist also created a photo of King Felipe VI in his military uniform. These two photographs are part of the theme of a new exhibition devoted to artistic representations of time.

“It looks like a…”: the latest portrait of Letizia makes Internet users react

Entitled Tyranny of Chronos, this project exhibited at the Bank of Spain presents several works – such as ancestral clocks – from different institutions which question the concept of time. The portraits of Felipe and Letizia are inspired as much by the baroque style of Velazquez as by modern codes.

A marvel of photography, the queen is stunning and a great selection of clothing from our top designer”, “How beautiful the queen is”, “Looks like a Hollywood actress on the red carpet”, can we read among the reactions on Instagram.
