Douchka Volaric, better known under the pseudonym Taille Basse, has just released her first book “Rien n’est NAINpossible”. In an exclusive interview with the “Journal des Femmes”, she looks back on her life journey and the objective of her book.

Douchka Volaric, 32 years old, better known under the pseudonym Taille Basse, has 1.4 million followers on TikTok and 115,000 followers on Instagram. “I created my TikTok and Instagram account 4 years ago. My goal was to write my book and that’s what happened,” she tells us in an exclusive interview. Suffering from achondroplasia, the influencer prefers to laugh about it rather than feel sorry for herself. “With the pseudonym Taille Basse, I wanted to give a self-mockery aspect. When you go to my account, there is a lot of it. I don’t take myself seriously and I live my situation too well.”

His disability discovered at birth: “It’s a shock”

His fight ? Accept herself as she is, with her small size, even though the looks of others can impact her. “I spend time and money getting my clothes made to measure with my mother who is a seamstress and who helps me. I want people to say: ‘Oh look at the dwarf, she is well dressed.’ And not just: ‘Oh look at the dwarf.’ Otherwise, I take it really well, it is a strength. My mother taught me that there are more serious things in life.”

His book Nothing is DWARFpossible aims to make everyone’s differences acceptable. “The book is for children, we must talk to them about it from a very young age, even before they are confronted with differences. We cannot explain everything to them, but we can make them aware. It is also aimed at parents who are also important in the development of a different child. It can be a major upheaval in the life of a couple and a family.”

Indeed, her mother sometimes put her sisters and her personal life aside. “Every parent expects to welcome an ideal child, my mother was not aware until my birth. It’s an upheaval, even the couple suffers from it. It also brings together my life story.” Doctors discovered his disability at birth, “we told my mother several scenarios: that I had Down syndrome, then achondroplasia. I was a guinea pig when I was born to find out what I had.”

A childhood like any other? “I was very protected”

Having worked as an executive assistant for 10 years in a departmental agency, the Castelroussine has found her place there.I won’t quit my job for social media.” His main strength in everyday life? His family. “I think I was raised in cotton wool. I am also the youngest of four children. I am the baby of the family, there is a lot of kindness. I was very protected by my sisters. I had a childhood like all children, I had no obstacles.”

The influencer also puts into perspective the fact that she has dwarfism. “I start from the principle that there are worse things in life. I have small legs, small arms, but I have a beating heart and I am in good health, that’s the main thing. I think we are in a situation where the world is not going very well and we all have worries in life. I try to give a little balm to everyone and by showing that we can continue to live even if we are different. Difference can be overcome.”

Since her childhood, Douchka has always learned to put her own situation into perspective, which is her strength: “From the age of 2 to 14, I went to Necker Hospital to do visits. And one day, I asked what I was doing here, I don’t belong here. I never went back. You have to know how to look elsewhere to put things into perspective.”

Exclusive interview which cannot be repeated without mention of the Women’s Journal.
