If he celebrates his 40th birthday this year, the Children’s book and press fair has lost nothing of his childish soul! By bringing together, from November 27 to December 2, 400 publishing houses in Montreuil, the famous SLPJ blows out its candles with an ambitious edition, oriented towards the fertile imagination of dream.
To accompany this anniversary, the departmental council of Seine-Saint-Denis had the idea of a large free meeting, dispersing in 40 places dedicated to children in the department the works of 40 illustrators different – including Géraldine Alibeu, Fleur Oury, Loren Capelli, Loïc Froissart and Emmanuelle Houdart.
40 partner locations and an exhibition
The route includes a majority of nurseries (including those of Moulin Neuf in Stains, Jacques-Prévert in Lilas, Helen-Keller in Île-Saint-Denis, Danton in Pré-Saint-Gervais), but also maternal and child protection centers (in Aulnay-sous-Bois, Blanc-Mesnil or Livry-Gargan), an early childhood relay (in Gournay-sur-Marne), a day care service (in La Courneuve), a child care center (in children of a social nature (Coubron)…
The 40 illustrators were invited to each create a work around the theme of readingwhich was the subject of a large format reproduction, unveiled from this Wednesday, November 20 in all participating locations. Of course, access to these crèches and other places remains reserved for a handful of parents and registered children; the general public will however be able to discover the 40 illustrations at the Book and Youth Press Fair, in theexposition « 40 × 40 ».
Meetings and workshops
On this occasion, two meetings open to all should be noted: on Friday November 29, the 40 illustrators and the different structures will meet from 6:30 p.m. at the show to discuss their work. Two days later, Sunday 1is December, a parent-child creative workshop will be offered at the show with illustrator Ilya Green; meet in the “Books for yourself” space on the first floor, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
