Very popular in the USA

Released in 2019, this horror thriller traces the wedding night of a young bride who will turn into a nightmare when her rich and eccentric in-laws ask her to honor a tradition. The latter will prove deadly and everyone will then have to fight for their lives. This film is based on the game of cat and mouse between Grace, the young bride and those who want her dead. If she ends up losing the game she is forced to participate in, she will be offered as a sacrifice to the devil. Problem, if she wins, it is her in-laws who will suffer this fate. This plot is a bit reminiscent of Get Outreleased in 2017 and much loved by fans of this genre.

Wedding Nightmare worked very well in the cinema. It achieves more than 28 million admissions in the US and more than 450,000 in France. The film generated almost $60 million in worldwide box office revenue for a very low production cost (around $6 million). He is highly appreciated by the specialized media. From more than 300 journalist reviews listed on RottenTomatoes, Ready or not obtains a very solid 89/100. On Allociné, the situation is very different. Spectators and the press gave the horror thriller a rating of 3/5. It seems that the feature film was more convincing on the other side of the Atlantic.

A sequel announced

A few months ago, an American journalist reported that Searchlight Pictures was considering a sequel to their film. As part of the 30th anniversary of the production studio, Wedding Nightmare was screened and Radio Silence formalized a second part with the return of Samara Weaving in front of the camera. For the moment, it is only indicated that the directing duo would be back as producers and that the release date would be for 2026. More information will probably come out very soon!
