The announcement was made this Tuesday morning by President Christelle Morançais, at the head of the Pays de la Loire Region, 100 community agents will not be replaced by 2028. This is in addition to the 100 million euros savings to be made in 2025.
It’s a cold shower for the agents of the Pays de la Loire Region, who learned this Tuesday (November 19) from President Christelle Morançais (Horizons), that 100 of them will not be replaced by the end of the mandate, in 2028. No immediate abolition of positions, but retirements not replaced.
“Ms. Morançais adds brutality in her methods to the irresponsibility of her choices”
The region is cutting staff numbers, and has also decided to make 100 million euros in savings in the 2025 budget. An aberration for the Opposition group, which criticizes the brutal method, and announcements made “without dialogue or consultation”.
For Guillaume Garot (PS), “the agents learn it like this, as well as the elected officials: it is not a way of doing things, but what is especially serious is that today, Ms. Morançais is adding brutality to her methods to the irresponsibility of its choices. What are irresponsible choices? This is announcing 100 million euros in budget cuts even beyond the 40 million that the government is asking for. region, it’s frankly not serious, because it adds crisis to the crisis that already exists.”

The sectors affected by this “budget bleeding” would be culture (which we have already spoken to you about), sport, small businesses or municipalities which counted on the region to help finance this or that project.
“They are the ones who will pay the price!”
“Ms. Morançais is the only one in France to make her choices. The only regional president in France to add 60 million euros to the 40 million requested everywhere by the government. What does that mean? Why is she doing all this? Nobody understands, but everyone understands that those who will pay the price are those who are on the ground. : those involved in culture, sport, our communities, our associations, our small businesses. They are the ones who will pay the price!”

As last October, the Mayennais Guillaume Garot (PS) and the Vendée Lucie Etonno (EELV), who chair the Opposition group in the region, are asking for the budget session to be postponed.
Christelle Morançais, who did not wish to speak, justifies these savings “faced with the budgetary crisis that the country is going through“. According to Ouest-France, the Pays de la Loire Region has around 1,200 agents, to which are added 2,700 agents deployed in high schools for which the region has jurisdiction.
