His arrival in the Pyrénées-Orientales was eagerly awaited: Kevin de Porre is about to succeed in its bet. In Céret, the head of Fario gourmet restaurant already seems to have won over its customers, as well as culinary experts. The Gault et Millau guide has just given the establishment a very nice note.
A chef who lives up to his reputation
“It’s a gastronomic address that should quickly gain an excellent reputation.” News Perpignan announced it to you at the beginning of September: the Fario de Céret restaurant has indeed become a unmissable table of Vallespir, and the department as a whole.
Returning from the capital, where he had won a Michelin star with his best friend, Kévin de Porre found son Pays catalan natal with firm ambition. That of making your terroir shine through local cuisine, based “on plants, the sea and wild herbs”.
Considered “one of the most anticipated new French restaurants for the 2024 school year” by Gault et Millau, Fario has already received a distinction from this famous gastronomic guide, which awarded it a score of 13 and reward of two hatsplacing it directly among the best restaurants in the Pyrénées-Orientales.
The Gault et Millau opinion
Two “Chef’s Table” hats – 13/20
“Tribute to brown trout at Kevin de Porre, who left for the other side of the country after treating us to his Contraste rue d’Anjou, then associated with his accomplice Erwan Ledru. In the cherry capital, in the heart of Vallespir , he now sails solo, as close as possible to nature and a favorable environment, thus returning to the region of his childhood A champion’s know-how (he notably worked at Shangri-La during the Labbé period, at the Plaza and at. Kei), a beautiful science of local product: the road to the Pyrenees is wide open for Kevin, and the first forkfuls are very promising.”
Google reviews also very positive
And the gastronomic guide is not the only one to have been won over by the beginnings of Kévin de Porre’s Ceretane adventure. On Google, the dozens of reviews collected in just a few weeks by the Fario restaurant are very positive (4.7/5).
“A great discovery. Sensitive to this cuisine which respects the product, we loved it. Fair and delicate cooking”, we can read in particular, with “a tasty unstructured paella” which returns among the chef’s flagship dishes (main photo).
“What a magnificent discovery! Fine, delicate, incredible. A big congratulations to the entire team with a special mention for the sommelier and of course the very inspired chef,” adds another customer.
Future starred restaurant?
After this undeniably successful opening, the Fario restaurant could well bring a Michelin star in the town of Céret. In any case, this is the wish and ambition of chef Kévin de Porre, who hopes to once again seduce the inspectors of the Red Guide.
As a reminder, the Pyrénées-Orientales department has four starred restaurants this year: La Balette in Collioure, La Galinette in Perpignan, l’Almandin in Saint-Cyprien and The Cooperative in Belesta. The next Michelin Guide promotion will be known in March 2025.
