Alet-les-Bains: the Ligat festival, a link between here and elsewhere

Faithful to its openness to world music, Claranda offers a mixed festival and the medieval city will vibrate Friday June 28 and Saturday June 29 on sounds and rhythms of plural origins. If the association’s team has its ears wide open to elsewhere and manages to program groups rarely present at local events, it nevertheless forgets the local artists. It is also the Art’Pailhous fanfare, well anchored in the local landscape, which will have the honor of launching the first notes of the Ligat festival. Since its creation around fifteen years ago, the group has gone through turbulence and almost breathed its last but new lungs gave it new life! The fanfare therefore continues its journey and as at the beginning, the 15 musicians remain united in the pure pleasure of playing a traditional or current repertoire that is resolutely festive and dancing.

La Claranda regularly combines practical workshops open to all with its musical programming and has invited two other artists from the Haute Vallée to speak during the day on Saturday. Myriem Farrah, multi-instrumentalist singer, will offer a singing-improv session accompanied by aquatic percussion. Carlos Valverde, percussionist and luthier, will lead a workshop on traditional percussion from northeast Brazil. The participation fee for these workshops is €5 and trainees will be invited to take part in public restitution concerts at the end of the day alongside the participating artists.
