Agadir- The success of any film festival is closely linked to the nature and quality of the films programmed, with the aim of reaching a large audience of film buffs and professionals with varied tastes, and offering them a selection of screenings at lived up to expectations, said Moroccan-Canadian actress Houda Rihani.
“The choice of a cinematographic work for a festival is based on several criteria including its format, its mode of storytelling and its genre,” explained Ms. Rihani in an interview with MAP, on the sidelines of her participation as a member of the feature film jury of the 20th edition of the International Cinema and Migrations Festival, which continues until November 16 in Agadir.
“This 20th edition of the Festival, I am convinced, will be a great success,” added the actress, specifying that the organizers have made sure to program a range of films of “unparalleled excellence”. This selection testifies to the excitement that the cinema scene is experiencing at different levels, she said.
Ms. Rihani also emphasized the influence of festivals on the film value chain, explaining that festivals also have an undeniable impact in the sense that they constitute an ideal opportunity to maximize visibility, diffusion and distribution of cinematographic works.
Furthermore, Houda Rihani wanted to express her great pride in being part of the jury for this edition, saying she was very touched by this new experience which can only enrich her journey, through the discovery of a cinema with such a theme. particular, namely migration.
Born in Casablanca, Houda Rihani, laureate of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts and Cultural Animation (ISADAC), very quickly mastered the stage by making her debut in the theater before moving on to television and cinema.
She made her debut in Moroccan cinema in 1998 through the film “She is diabetic and hypertensive and she refuses to die” by Hakim Noury, before appearing in several films, series, TV films and sitcoms.
She has numerous awards and distinctions to her credit, including the prize for best female performance at the International Mediterranean Film Festival of Tetouan (18th edition) in 2012, the prize for female performance at the Tangier National Film Festival and the special mention from the jury at the Agadir International Cinema and Migrations Festival in 2015.
