Actor John Boyega and writer Padma Lakshmi are among the stars of the 2025 Pirelli calendar, photographed by young artist Ethan James Green. Unveiled on Monday, the calendar’s theme is “Refresh and Reveal.”
Limited this year to 11,000 copies, the Pirelli calendar called on ex-model and photographer Ethan James Green for its 2025 edition. Many public figures posed in front of the ex-model’s camera, each trying to best embody the theme “Refresh and Reveal”.
Ethan James Green describes this theme as a nod to the history of the Pirelli calendar, interpreting the body and sensuality in a contemporary way. For this shooting, honesty and improvisation were the watchwords of John Boyega et Padma Lakshmi before filming. In fact, the two celebrities did not prepare in advance and did not stress about the outcome of the shoot.
« I just hoped for the best. I did a good skincare routine (…) I had the shoot date 3 or 4 days before so I didn’t have much time to prepare “, confided Padma Lakshmi.
Boyega was in the middle of training when he was asked to reveal his body on camera, but he’s sure he would have accepted even if he hadn’t been so well prepared.
« I would still have taken out my stomach”, Boyega said. “It’s beauty. We can be soft sometimes. But I would have come to do this shoot regardless. And the great thing is that there has been such acceptance. If you see the diversity of people involved, all ages are different and that’s what I really like. This shows that Pirelli has aligned itself with this vision of beauty “, he added.
Simone Ashley, Hunter Schafer, Vincent Cassel, Elodie Di Patrizi, Jodie Turner-Smith and Hoyeon Jung also feature in the 2025 calendar. Since its first publication in 1964, the Pirelli calendar has become famous for its artistic aesthetic and showcasing some of the world’s biggest stars.
