Discreet, Shivon Zilis is none other than the director of Neuralink, Elon Musk's company, whose daily life she shares. While no one is able to say how long the duo have been in love, the thirty-year-old is undoubtedly one of the most influential people in Silicon Valley.
An artificial intelligence genius. Born in Ontario, Shivon Zilis, a 36-year-old Canadian, is one of the stars of Silicon Valley. She runs Neuralink, a company specializing in neural implants founded by Elon Musk, a billionaire who could be appointed by Donald Trump, minister of “governmental efficiency” and whose life she has shared since a date that remains mysterious to this day.
Originally from Markham, Shivon Zilis graduated from Yale University in 2008 with a degree in economics and philosophy. She was notably a goalkeeper for the women's ice hockey team.
After starting her career at IBM – where she stayed for three years – she joined Bloomberg's venture capital fund Beta as a founding member with an increased interest in investments in artificial intelligence. She was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2015, in the venture capital category. She is also listed as a director, advisor, or board member of several other artificial intelligence companies.
The young woman would have met Elon Musk through his work at OpenAI, an artificial intelligence non-profit organization that he co-founded, according to Insider magazine. Shivon Zilis also worked for her partner's electric car company, Tesla, where she served for two years alongside the autopilot and chip design teams. She has worked at Neuralink since 2017.
Parents of three children
Also according to Insider, Shivon Zilis lived in San Francisco before moving into a mansion in Austin, Texas. The house is valued at more than $4 million on the real estate platform Zillow. Both Zilis and Musk reportedly listed the Austin mansion as their home address in court records. This year, the wealthy South African would have acquired a “secret complex” for 35 million dollars (around 32 million euros), according to the New York Times.
It is also in the Texan city that Shivon Zilis and Elon Musk welcomed twins in November 2021. At the time, the parents asked a local court to change the names of the newborns, so that they “have their father’s last name and contain their mother’s last name as part of their middle name.”
The twins would therefore have been born a few weeks before the second child of Elon Musk and musician Grimes (via a surrogate mother), who was born in December. Since then, Shivon Zilis has given birth to a third child in 2024 according to information from Bloomberg.
