Elton John has diabetes and has had to follow a strict and frustrating diet for over twenty years. The Rocket Man singer opened up during the Ruthie’s Tables podcast about his dietary restrictions and his food fantasies.
Elton John revealed details of his strict diabetic diet during a lengthy interview with the Ruthie’s Table podcast on November 11 (24).
He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the early 2000s and has since worked hard to manage his blood sugar levels by eating the right foods.
The Rocket Man singer opened up about his dietary restrictions and food fantasies. “I can eat an apple, I can eat a little melon,” he said. As long as you’re reasonable, it doesn’t spike your blood sugar. »
However, the star retained the desire to eat sweets: “But what I crave is chocolate and ice cream. I can’t eat ice cream.
During this exchange, the Cold Heart singer also described his ideal meal on death row, meaning the foods he would choose for his last meal if he was about to be executed in prison. And diabetes would be forgotten!
“I like all kinds of things that are not good for me,” Elton John admitted. Fried chicken, donuts. If I had a meal on death row, it would contain nothing but sweets, because I can’t eat them now. So I would have ice cream, donuts, apple pie, rhubarb crumble, blah blah blah…”
Elton John also gave a preview of what he would eat before going on stage. “It would probably be a small steak and some vegetables,” he said. Protein and vegetables, because you can’t go on stage when you feel like you’re going to fall. It’s very unpleasant. That’s all. It was a ritual.”
