Fans of Lucky Luke will soon be able to add a new album to their collection. The famous comic book character returns this Friday in “A cowboy under pressure”published by Lucky Comics. In this new album, signed Achdé and Jul, Lucky Luke will drag his cowboy boots far from his Wild West, in the north of the United States, precisely in Milwaukee, “America’s beer capitalin the grip of a social conflict opposing “Marxist trade unionists and industrial barons“. The crisis is serious: the beer shortage paralyzes all the country’s breweries.

The Daltons in pursuit of Karl Marx

This album is the eleventh in the new series taken up by Achdé (Hervé Darmenton). The designer, who succeeded the character’s creator, Morris, remains very faithful to his master’s graphics. But, for this adventure, it was necessary to renew : it essentially takes place in a large city, Milwaukee, and settings typical of the Industrial Revolution.

The screenwriter Jul (Julien Berjeaut) wanted readers to find that “it looks like the Lucky Lukes from the great era, which we love and, at the same time, it brings something new“. Hence, among other things, the collision between the Daltons and Karl Marx – the outlaw brothers are convinced that he has a big money nicknamed “Capital”. Or the presence of a Bavarian immigrant, Friedrich Trumpowner of a saloon and brothel – although, in reality, Donald’s grandfather was not based in Milwaukee.

In addition to bookstores, the man who shoots faster than his shadow also arrives in auction rooms. Friday, Christie’s is auctioning 50 original plates signed Morris. Dating from 1949 to 2001, they are estimated at prices ranging from 20,000 to 80,000 euros.
