Dax and Mont-de-Marsan will not participate in the return of Intervilles to television. The two cities regret the absence of cows for the four shows broadcast in the summer of 2025.
These are two cities historically linked to Intervilles which will not take part in the big return of the show, planned for next summer. Dax and Mont-de-Marsan will not participate in the famous game, according to our colleagues from France Bleu Gascogne.
Intervilles will be back for four evenings in 2025, presented by Nagui, sixty-three years after the creation of this cult game which pits two French cities against each other through a series of often eccentric physical challenges. The towns of Dax and Mont-de-Marsan, each winner of the game three times, believe that the spirit of Intervilles is no longer the same as before due to the absence of the traditional cows.
“It’s not at all the concept we knew”
“We were contacted by the production company, which confirmed the absence of cows,” explains the mayor of Dax Julien Dubois to France Bleu. “This implies that they would suffer trauma by participating in Intervilles. Which is absolutely not the case. In this context, we declined the offer made to us,” explains the elected official. An opinion shared by his counterpart from Mont-de-Marsan, Charles Dayot.
“Intervilles without cows, it’s not Intervilles. It’s something else, it’s a fair, or some game show, but it’s not called Intervilles,” believes the Mons councilor.
“I think that indirectly, it is also, not a form of attack, but a denigration of traditions around animals like the Landes cow and others… and it is obvious that the town of Mont-de-Marsan has little to do with an Intervilles without cows”, explains Charles Dayot.
“It’s not at all the concept we knew and it’s a shame, it distorts the show which filled the arenas here and which leaves good memories for an entire generation who participated in this adventure with great of enthusiasm at the time”, estimates the elected representative of Mont-de-Marsan to France Bleu.
In March 2020, the return of Intervilles was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2025, the show will be back on France 2 but without its cows or two of the game’s cult cities. Nagui will be the host of the program.
