This sign which allowed Tom Hanks to believe in the success of Forrest Gump
During his appearance on the show Late Night with Seth MeyersTom Hanks revealed what he experienced days before filming the movie with the cast and crew on Fripp Island in Beaufort County. As they wondered if Forrest Gump could interest spectators, a meteor shower fell in front of them. “It was the first time I was able to observe the Perseid meteor shower. The Earth passes through the tail of an old comet and all the pieces of the comet re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere, producing a multitude of meteors, and I I had never seen one in my life and then I said to myself: ‘If we believe in omens, then maybe this film will work’. We had just seen something otherworldly.”
