The dead calm, before the storm Gladiator II/Wicked (November 22)… For its third weekend of operation in the United States, Venom : The Last Dance collected 16.2 million dollars (-37.4%; total: 114.8 million), which allows Kelly Marcel's symbiotic blockbuster to retain first place at the box office, ahead of new releases The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (11.1 million) and Heretic (11 million). The competition is still conspicuous by its absence and it is undoubtedly not the very expensive Red One – with Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans – which will change the game (November 15). Eddie Brock has just quietly overtaken The Flash (108.1 million) and he even has the luxury of developing the best 'legs' of the trilogy, since by heading towards a finale at 140 million dollars, he will have multiplied his first weekend by ≃x2.75 (V1 : x2.65/ V2 : x2.37). Even if the first two opuses will not be equaled (V1 : 213 millions / V2 : 213.6 million), it must be recognized that this is an excellent signal for the future of this franchise insensitive to criticism…
A l’international, Venom : The Last Dance raised another 33 million dollars (total: 279.4 million), including a nice total in China (82.8 million). At the time of the accounts, this third opus therefore peaked at 394.2 million dollars, enough to exceed Shazam (367.8 millions), Black Widow (379.8 million) and Black Adam (393.5 millions). The Eternals (402.1 millions), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (432.2 million) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (439.4 million) will be next… and at the end of the effort, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (476.1 million) could well be eaten in turn! In short, we will be really close to the score of the second opus, which was released at the end of the Covid era (V1 : 856.1 millions / V2 : 506.8 million). Now that that is said, we will of course meet next month to follow the end of the clearance of films from the Spider-Man Universe from Sony: after Madame Web et Venom : The Last Danceit will be the turn of Kraven the Hunter (December 11)!
