UNITED STATES – A (false) turn of events. The comedians of Saturday Night Live (SNL), this very popular talk show in the United States, did their first sketch after the election of Donald Trump on Saturday November 9. And it was hilarious.

Four actors were on stage, each representing a minority persecuted in the Republican’s speeches: an Asian American, an African American, an African American woman, as well as a white woman. “For many people, especially many who are watching the show now, the results were a shock”begins Ego Nwodim.

“Donald Trump, who tried to overturn the results of the last election, is back”continues actress Heidi Gardner. And Bowen Yang added: “And now, thanks to the Supreme Court, there are no more guardrails. » A start to the sketch which is part of the tradition of the show, which supported Kamala Harris and did not hesitate to hit Donald Trump throughout the campaign.

But here, a change of footing. “That’s why at SNL, we would like to say to Donald Trump, we have always been with you, by your side”says Keenan Thompson. “We never stopped supporting you, even when others doubted you”adds Bowen Yang.

A new character, “hot jacked Trump”

The actors then claim to have voted for Donald Trump, say they see him as a hero, and denounce the mainstream media which attacked him. “We see ourselves in you. When we look at you, we say to ourselves, “That’s what I want to look like.”confirms Ego Nwodim, the most serious in the world. The audience is hilarious.

“So if you made a list of your enemies…we shouldn’t be on that list!” »conclude two comedians. This skit refers to the words of Donald Trump, who has said on several occasions that he wants to attack his enemies if he is re-elected. The SNL therefore tries with humor to redeem itself.

The sketch continues with the introduction of a new character, called Hot Jacked Trump (which can be translated as “very muscular and sexy Trump”). “Yes it’s me!” Hot Jacked Trump! They finally did my body right”joked James Austin Johnson, who has played the character of the Republican since the start of the season and who now appears with very inflated muscles.

The latter ends, imitating the voice of the president-elect: “From now on, we’re going to do very flattering portraits of Trump, because he’s my hero. He’s going to be an incredible president, and maybe a king! » Maya Rudolph, who played Kamala Harris, however, did not appear on the set.
