How has your relationship with your instrument evolved?
I realized that it took up a lot of space in the media discourse, especially since I am one of the rare women to play it. After touring the previous album, I was keen to develop my game. So I went to Africa. I worked a lot there with the griots, did retreats in Gambia, Mali… I took the time to travel, to nourish myself musically. And I wrote a lot. Little by little, everything made sense, a theme emerged, a plot, pieces. Everything became fluid…
This album appears to be an obvious extension of the previous one.
