Friday November 15, 2024 was organized the evening of handing over donations to the associations, mobilized during the Vieilles Charrues festival. This year, this represented 7,271 volunteers, for 130 associations. A meeting which takes place a few weeks after the traditional ploughmen’s meal which brought together 1,200 guests. The associations shared the €137,000 allocated to them in proportion to their representation on the ground. All were invited on Saturday, 180 representatives in total.

Increase in daily bookings

Jean-Luc Martin recalled the need to always adapt: “This year we were faced with a complicated context at different international, national and local levels, hence the drop in attendance. Inflation, purchasing power but also the programming, the artists’ fees which are soaring, the weather, etc., have meant that day reservations have been more numerous to the detriment of packages. »

A future marked by optimism

With 250,000 festival-goers, we were far from the 346,000 of the previous edition, over five days it is true, but also the 280,000 of 2022 and 2018, hence a deficit of almost a million euros on a overall budget of €21.2 million.

But the speakers view the future with optimism, like Jérôme Tréhorel, who is delighted with “the loyalty of his partners and patrons (some 400 today) and the support of the administrations. But we will have to continue to remain vigilant if we want to maintain costs,” he emphasizes. An optimism which is also due to the progress obtained at the meeting of October 15, in Châteaulin, concerning the blocking points mentioned many times. Agreements have been reached and work is also continuing regarding the acquisition of buildings (consular chambers and nursery) and the occupation of Kerampuilh which will make it possible to secure the main entrance and relocate the offices.

To note

The Vieilles Charrues 2025 festival will return to its usual slot from July 17 to 20.
