A fanfare tells of the meeting of two brothers who ignored each other. One (Benjamin Lavernhe) is a world-renowned conductor, suffers from leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. While looking for a donor, he discovers a brother (Pierre Lottin). He is a school canteen employee and plays the trombone in a brass band in the north of France.
The film, directed by Emmanuel Courcol, depicts the unexpected and quiet collision of two worlds. Two children once separated who, having become adults, suddenly project themselves into the life that could have been theirs. Determinism, lack of confidence, guilt… It turns out that the two brothers, socially polar opposites, have a common language: music (Jimmy also has perfect pitch). A fantastic human adventure, smiling and moving.
In a red brick decor and to the sound of harmony, A fanfarewith an imagination very anchored in the North, also speaks of folklore but is never folkloric. Favorite!
A film by Emmanuel Courcol, with Benjamin Lavernhe, Pierre Lottin, Sarah Suco, Jacques Bonnaffé (1h43), released on Wednesday November 27.
