It was a successful experience for this second date of “Doc Month” which was sold out. On the heights of Soulce, in the middle of the forest, without internet networks, the place is unusual. “La Métairie was an obvious choice for the screening of this film, since it immerses us directly in history,” assures Sylvie André, director of Galactica Production, which runs the festival.
Rustic atmosphere
On the site, no less than two hundred small lamps welcome visitors and guide them towards the home of Jean-Daniel Voirol. Inside, the rustic atmosphere and the fire in a stove set the scene. The film by Tanguy Dumortier and Olivier Larrey is among the six “experience” evenings offered by Mois du doc, specifies the organizer. Tightly squeezed into a small, warm room, around thirty people, from Lausanne, Neuchâtel and even Ajoie, are waiting for the documentary to be broadcast.
The story tells of the observation of two artists somewhere in the depopulated lands between Finland and Russia. Yves paints watercolors of everything he sees while Olivier photographs them. Everyone patiently scans the outside waiting to see a pack of wolves appear. From winter to fall, they remain practically motionless and silent for weeks on end. Patience is essential to admire the wolves’ territory. Sequence after sequence, striking images of the wolves appear on the screen. Astounded, the spectators are glued to the film. “I’m impressed with their patience,” one person commented. For sure, the idea of this evening was to have a different experience. “After Saint Martin’s Day on Friday evening, this meditative break was welcome,” slips another participant. Challenge succeeded!
