Since Friday, the deputy of La France Insoumise and the host of TF1 have been arguing on social networks about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
It took less than 24 hours to Aymeric Caron to respond to Arthur . It all started on Friday November 8. In a message posted on X, the deputy of La France Insoumise accused the host and producer of TF1 of supporting the massacres in Gaza.
The latter reacted the next day on his Instagram account. “I also challenge you to respond to the video that shows your delusional obsession with Israel for months. Defending the Palestinian people is laudable, but that does not excuse turning a blind eye to the crimes of Hamas, which manipulates the suffering of its people for its own interests.”wrote Arthur in particular, pointing out the lack of reaction from his detractor regarding the “millions of deaths in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Syria, Yemen? For oppressed women in Iran and Afghanistan? “Not a word in the thousands of tweets that you relentlessly pour out. Perhaps because in these conflicts, no Jews are involved. Mr. Caron, your speech reeks of anti-Semitism”concluded the host.
In reaction, Aymeric Caron wrote a (very) long message published this Sunday afternoon on X. “You just launched a raid on me (“thank you for sharing this message with those around you”you write) in order to try to silence my voice which is expressed every day in support of the Palestinian people. Missed. I will not be silent. Never”he began. At Arthur's request, the deputy then returned to the various public statements of the host who, according to him, “manifest [son] support for the ongoing massacres in Gaza”.

In his message, Aymeric Caron accused Arthur of being “close to the Diaspora Defense Forces association”. “On March 27 you were the guest of one of his evenings”he said. On its website, the DDF presents itself as an association which aims to “vigorously defend the image and interests of our Jewish community in the Diaspora and in Israel”. “But DDF openly supports the Israeli army in its action in Gaza (despite the multiple proven crimes of which it is guilty), denies Israeli colonization (“we are not settlers at home”), denies the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians in 1948, declares that Israelis are victims of apartheid in Gaza and the West Bank, declares that what is happening in Gaza right now is “a battle between light and darkness, between humanity and inhumanity” and denies the toll of Palestinian victims in Gaza”added the MP.

After having defended himself from having a “delusional obsession with Israel” and of “turn a blind eye to Hamas’ crimes”Aymeric Caron asked Arthur to denounce the actions of Hamas. “Are you able to say that Netanyahu is a war criminal who should be in prison? Are you able to say that war crimes and crimes against humanity have been taking place in Gaza over the past year that revolt you? Are you able to denounce the daily crimes of settlers in the West Bank? Are you able to denounce the colonization, occupation, arrests, arbitrary detention and torture of thousands of Palestinians, even children as young as 12? Are you capable of it?”he wrote.
And to conclude: “Or are you even capable of treating as anti-Semites (like all pro-Netanyahu people) those who denounce these major injustices, this failure of humanity in which you are currently complicit through your silence and your accusations? infamous?”.
