The D23 Brazil event organized in Sao Paulo by Disney made it possible to set the date of April 22, 2025 as that of the launch of the highly anticipated season 2 of “Andor”, the Star Wars series with Diego Luna, widely acclaimed at its launch in 2022.
A final thrill. After a first season acclaimed by the public and critics in 2022, “Andor” will return to Disney+ from April 22, 2025 to conclude the adventures of Cassian Andor before the events of “Rogue One”.
This season 2, available in 12 episodes, will take place over four years before the junction with the film released in 2016, with modules of three episodes for each of them. Each module will cover several consecutive days of the preceding events, specified the American site Variety.
“If you know the finality of the story, that helps,” said showrunner Tony Gilroy in April 2023, during the Star Wars Celebration convention in London.
“We know exactly where we are going. You know what you need to convey emotionally, and where the story should go. “It’s a decision motivated by survival, which is a good thing for us from a creative point of view,” he added about this series which allows us to follow the journey of secondary characters from the Star universe. Wars, too often ignored in films.
In addition to Diego Luna, back in the shoes of Cassian Andor, whose evolution from a minor criminal to that of a key character in the fight of the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire, viewers will find Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic, Imperial officer and Death Star engineer.
Forest Whitaker will return to play Saw Gerrera, one of the leaders of the Rebel Alliance, after brief appearances in episodes 8 and 11 of season 1.
