The mother of the teenager who ended her life after being bullied at school deplores having lost the attention of the political class.

“We always get the answer yes, but nothing happens.” Betty Gervois, mother of young Lindsay who ended her life in May 2023, deplores words which are not always followed by actions in the fight against school bullying.

“The political world should understand that we want to lead a fight, not an episodic adventure,” she said in an interview with JDD published this Sunday, November 10.

Attal “totally let me go”

Lindsay’s mother, who died at the age of 13, says she is particularly disappointed by the former Minister of Education Gabriel Attal, who was at the origin of an association to fight against school bullying and himself a victim. of this scourge which affects many students.

“He completely abandoned me,” she assures, explaining that she is still waiting for “approval” from her association “Les Ailes de Lindsay”.

“I did not really see the fruits of his declarations which nevertheless represented immense hope for us,” she regrets, considering herself “the victim of a temporary political recovery”.

“Madame Macron also spoke to me about the title of ambassador of harassment in , without follow-up,” adds the bereaved mother.

The Minister of Education Anne Genetet announced Thursday, November 7 that she would ask schools, colleges and high schools to inform parents of students on the “types of suffering identified” thanks to anonymous questionnaires for detecting harassment, to “mobilize” them on this issue.

Since last Thursday, the national day against school bullying, and between now and November 15, every student in France, from CE2 to Terminale, is invited to express themselves freely in an anonymous questionnaire to detect bullying. This questionnaire was launched a year ago, and the minister announced that it would now take place every year.
