The Nohant Chopin Festival welcomes two pianists, Sunday June 16, 2024. The first is called Dmytro Semykras and despite his young age, has already won several competitions including that of Île-de-France in 2023.

A young talent, as often passes through the festival’s nursery, perhaps promised to have as great a career as today’s second performer, the Englishman Benjamin Grosvenor (recital at 4 p.m.) that we never tire of not to come and hear it again on stage as he captivates with the delicacy and incredible expressionism of his playing.

The festival celebrates its 30th anniversary

The following weekend invites us to other great meetings (Yulianna Avdeeva, Juliette Journaux, the writer Bruno Monsaingeon) but will also be the opportunity, Friday June 21, from 6 p.m., to come and celebrate a birthday: the thirty years of the festival since two of its kingpins, Yves Henry and Jean-Yves Clément, took over the reins.

The first is a pianist, a great specialist in the romantic repertoire, and takes the presidency. The second is a writer, critic and music publisher: he becomes artistic director. They were handsome and young men at the time… Their passion for music preserved them well!

The duo invites us to revisit several decades of the festival in notes and words, to remember the highlights and significant events of these romantic encounters which have rocked Indre for fifty-eight editions. A period which saw the passing of some of the most prestigious artists on the international scene but which also saw the birth of some of the most brilliant pianists of their generation. A special evening, therefore, open to all, free, which will allow us both to remember and look towards the future of a festival which has not turned white at the temples.

Sunday June 16: 11 a.m., discovery springboard with Dmytro Semykras (Scarlatti, Brahms, Chopin, Rachmaninov, Scriabin); 4 p.m., Benjamin Grosvenor piano recital (Brahms, Liszt, Chopin). Friday June 21: 6 p.m., “30 years in Nohant”, free entry. Saturday June 22: 4 p.m., videoconference “Klaus Mäkelä, vers la flame” by Bruno Monsaingeon; 8:30 p.m., piano recital Yulianna Avdeeva (Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt). Sunday June 23: 11 a.m., discovery springboard with Juliette Journals (Schubert, Schubert/Liszt, Wagner, Schoenberg, Posa Mahler); 4 p.m., concert Marc Coppey (cello) and François Dumont (piano).
