Building on its success on the platform, the Sephora Favorite advent calendar is already out of stock… to the great misfortune of Internet users. Some people don’t hesitate to resell it for twice as much on Vinted.
“We’re opening the year’s Advent calendar together,” joyfully exclaims Laurie.mkp, a content creator on Tiktok. “This is the calendar of the year. Look at the beauty, I can't wait to open it.”
Neither one nor two, the influencer opens the boxes of the Advent calendar one by one. On the program: a Byoma cream, a Tarte eyeshadow palette or a Huda beauty gloss. A selection of 24 products selected from the most popular beauty brands on the platform.
And Laurie.mkp is far from an exception. On the short video application, dozens and dozens of influencers unpack the brand's now famous Advent calendar. And it’s a hit. These publications easily reach 300,000 views.
“It’s crazy, I need it,” writes a user under a video. “I want pity,” adds another. What appeals to these users? Its price. It is priced at 125 euros, for 24 products with a real value of more than 500 euros.
In the video comment area, all users are unanimous: the item, described as “super profitable”, must absolutely end up in their shopping cart. The problem is that the calendar cannot be found.
“It’s out of stock,” panics a user under a video of a calendar unboxing. “Wait, they’re not going to put it back? Go into depression,” says another. “I hate you Sephora, I have tears in my eyes,” adds a last one. Some even share videos to share their outrage.
“Little rant against Sephora. I've been seeing unboxings of the Sephora Favorites Advent calendar for weeks. I really want to buy it, but it no longer exists. It was out of stock but I I don't even find it on the application anymore,” complains a user.
Indeed, after a quick look at the site, it was impossible to find the announcement of the Sephora Favorites calendar. It's as if it had never been released.
On the social network, theories are rife. Some assume that the calendar was only available to influencers, and that it was therefore a marketing operation. Others claim to have learned from a saleswoman that the calendar would be back in stock in the coming days.
Contacted by Tech&Co, Sephora confirms that Sephora Favorites will not come back in stock. “Every year, the Advent calendar is very successful and this year again that was the case,” specifies the brand, which prefers to redirect its customers to its other Christmas offers.
A craze that does not escape the eye of a few smart people. Some lucky people have therefore decided to resell the Sephora Favorites calendar on Vinted… more than twice as expensive as its real value in store.
On the second-hand application, the few calendars, displayed between 220 and 340 euros, all go away in a few minutes.
