Kassav’ special programming on the overseas antennas of Télévisions!

The antennas of the Overseas division of Télévisions are getting into Kassav’ time with an exceptional program to evoke this legendary group who invented zouk at the dawn of the 1980s. With nearly 600 titles, more than 5 millions of albums sold and millions of fans from Africa to Oceania via Asia, forty-five years after its formation, Kassav’ continues to shine throughout the world and influence generations of artists .

Documentary, concerts, magazines, podcast, radio broadcast, in Overseas and France, the linear and digital antennas of the Overseas division look back on a musical epic that has been written for more than four decades in Creole.

Concert (unreleased) Kassav’ at Accor Arena – Let us know

Kassav’ performed at the Accor Arena in Paris last May in front of a crazy audience! The band titled their tour Be ours, in Creole, or “It’s you we love” in French, in tribute to Jacob Desvarieux, who died in 2021. Co-founder of the group Kassav’, an essential figure in West Indian music, this exceptional guitarist, singer and composer is the origin in the 1980s of the creation of zouk. From Africa to the Atlantic, from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean, the voice of Jacob Desvarieux continues to resonate across borders.

This is not a film about Kassav’. It’s a story and a celebration… From Paris to Bamako, from New York to Havana, few people have any memory of the legendary group that brought zouk to the whole planet. Kassav’ has more than 40 years of existence, records and tours around the world. It is also one of the rare groups to have inspired several generations of African artists.

Pianist, author, composer and performer of the group Kassav’, Jean-Claude Naimro performed last year, for the first time in his career solo, with his musicians, on the stage of the Tropiques Atrium, in Fort-de -France. In the company of friends invited to join him on stage — Jocelyne Béroard, Tony Hunter, Ralph Thamar, George the Tenth, Gregz, the R’Nold chorale… —, Jean-Claude Naimro delivered a concert with sounds oscillating between tradition and modernity, with the cover of his remastered hits, to offer the public an exceptional show.

Jean-Claude Naimro takes the stage at La Cigale. For this exceptional concert in Paris, he surrounded himself with musicians Didier David (keyboard), Thomas Bellon (battery), Albert Vigné (percussion), Rémi Rascar (basse), Alex Cabit (guitar), Nicolas Pelage, et Linda Ray (choirs).

Jacob Desvarieux, a concert for history

In 2018, at the ACTe Memorial in Pointe-à-Pitre, guitarist and composer Jacob Desvarieux, pillar of the group Kassav’, brought together a group of musician friends around the project “Nanm Kann”, “the soul of the cane” , to pay homage to his ancestor Euphrasine and reveal his vision of the blues.

The Arpège Choir sings Kassav’

The Arpège Choir paid tribute to the legendary group Kassav’ on the stage of Tropiques Atrium, in June 2023. Who said that young people don’t know Kassav’? The young choristers of the Chorale Arpège take up the repertoire of the legendary group and deliver their interpretation of the titles best known to the general public. Farm Saint-Val, E.sy Kennenga, Tony Hunter, Thierry Cham, Marijosé Alie, Richard Cave (Carimi), David Tayrault, Fally Ipupagroups of big case (drums) Kozeika and the Geoffroy brothers all responded to participate in this concert dedicated to an artist with unique creativity who knew, through his repertoire, capturing emotions, stories and moments that still resonate throughout the world.
