Forget Liam Neeson and Taken… This great actress could renew the action film: Cinema and series

5 years after having made the excellent “Sympathy for the Devil” about a war reporter, the Franco-Canadian filmmaker Guillaume de Fontenay is launching the filming of an action film with the false air of “Taken” with Marine Vacth in the main role.

A French Taken? Several filmmakers have tried it, and again very recently this summer with Elyas, carried by Roschdy Zem… Here is Badh, a new project which is starting filming, and whose story lines recall the famous franchise carried by Liam Neeson.

The pitch? After the death of her companion, Alma returns to her former identity as Badh, a ruthless intelligence agent.

Alma will be played by Marine Vacth. The French actress revealed by Young and Pretty by François Ozon is quite rare in the cinema. We recently saw her in Masquerade.

Marine Vacth will be surrounded by a nice cast, as reported by Le Film Français. Niels Schneider, Emmanuelle Bercot, Slimane Dazi, Sofian Khammes, Grégoire Colin and Lionel Abelanski.

After the remarkable Sympathy for the Devil, a Taken-style film

It should be noted that Niels Schneider and Sofian Khammes were in the credits of the previous film by the director of Badh, Guillaume de Fontenay. Both carried the excellent film Sympathy for the Devil (trailer above), telling the story of war reporter Paul Marchand. This feature film, which went a little too unnoticed, nevertheless received a very good critical reception.

Badh could thus be a nice surprise in terms of cinema idea and ambition, with Guillaume de Fontenay at the helm. Note that this action film is written by Matt Alexander. (recent screenwriter of the film Survivre, with Emilie Dequenne). Filming begins in Morocco on November 11, 2024 and will last until mid-January 2025.
