The Plaza Center Cinema in Geneva is being transformed to become a multi-purpose cultural complex. The reopening is planned for the end of 2026. This project includes the restoration of the emblematic cinema hall, the creation of an immersive room, exhibition spaces, a boutique-bookstore, an ice cream bar, a brasserie and a hotel. movie theater. The objective is to make the Plaza a place of meeting and cultural exchange, keeping cinema at its heart while opening up to other artistic disciplines such as architecture, visual arts, dance, music, digital creation and literature.
The Foundation Board is chaired by Jean-Pierre Greff, Art and design historian, former director of HEAD – Geneva. Other members of the Council include Emmanuel Cuénod, director of the Digital Creation Center, Natacha Koutchoumov, actress and director, Carmen Jaquier, director and screenwriter, and Marc Maugué, secretary general of the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation.

Although the historic cinema hall is still under construction, it will be possible to explore the floors of the building of the future cultural complex and discover behind the scenes of the different structures linked to culture and cinema installed there: GIF – Geneva International Film Festival & Geneva Digital Market, le FIFDH – International Film Festival and Human Rights Forum, Everybody’s Perfect – Geneva International Queer Film Festival, Cinema, Flux Laboratory, ProFilms, Rita Productions, Large Network, Created Sahli, Meriweza CooperativeFdMP architects and the Geneva Contemporary Art Centere.
