INTERVIEW. Singer Nach gets a “new look” in Nivillac

Anna Chedid, better known as Nach, is not just the daughter or sister of Louis and Matthieu Chédid. And she proves it in her latest album, New skinwhich she will present, alone, on the piano, at the Forum, in Nivillac (Morbihan), this Saturday, November 9, 2024. Interview.

What is your album about? New skinreleased in October 2023?

He talks about rebirth. Three years ago, I experienced a major upheaval in my life: a separation, a move and the end of my tour due to Covid. And I left to travel for six months in nature, alone with my keyboard and my microphone.

That’s where I wrote the songs for this album. They truly symbolize the transition from the previous life to the new life. The album represents the journey, this kind of crossing of the desert where we learn to live again.

What can the public expect when they come to see you in concert?

The public will attend a musical show. There is a whole scenographic and dramaturgical work. I’m all alone on stage, but there will be videos, a grand piano and lots of machines. This solitude on stage was important to me because it symbolizes my rebirth. This show is really the most accomplished, in the sense that I was able to bring to life on stage everything I say in the album.

What brought you to music?

I was born into a family of musicians. I have been rocked by music my whole life. Very young, I sang, played the piano, and tap danced. But I still asked myself, as a teenager, when it came to choosing a career: was it a deep, personal desire or was I doing it out of mimicry? I realized that I was really passionate about music. That’s where I started writing my first songs, I released my first album at 25 and, since then, I haven’t stopped.

You are the daughter of the musician Louis Chedid, the sister of M… How to find your place?

I would say it’s a bit like all families. It’s always an epic journey to find your place in a family. And today, with this album, I really feel like I’ve found my place.

Saturday November 9, at 8:30 p.m., at the Forum, in Nivillac. Prices: from €18 to €22.
