The painter and writer Loubaba Laalej exhibits in Rabat

The Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad is organizing the exhibition “Poetry and Painting” by Moroccan-French artist Loubaba Laalej, from November 14 to December 14, 2024 at Espace Rivages.

The opening will take place on Thursday, November 14 at 6:30 p.m. and will be marked by a poetic reading to musical rhythm with the accompaniment of lutenist Youssef Louza and the signing of the artist’s book “Poetry and Painting” prefaced by Adib El Machrafi and Said Ahid (French version) as well as by Nour Eddine Dirar and Oumar El Asri (Arabic version).
A native of Fez, Loubaba Laalej is a painter and writer living in since 1956. She has degrees in journalism, sociology and international studies. Coming from a family of artists, Loubaba has been passionate about writing and painting since a young age. She has to her credit several exhibitions in , Italy, Vietnam, Spain…

In 2019, she received an honorary doctorate from the Fine Arts Forum International as recognition. She is a member of the Permanent Bureau of the League of African Women Writers and the Alliance of Arab Creators. Among his poetry collections “Fragments”, “Wandering thoughts”, “Mysticity and plasticity”, “Melhoun and painting”, “Whisper of silence”, “Icons of feminine plasticity”, “Africa and ”, “The Desert and Art”, “Inner Voice”…
Loubaba Laalej transgresses painting through poetry. It provokes a dialogue on the surface of the canvas where poetry takes shape through color. A pictorial experience where a reconciliation is born between the two arts. His migratory experience has nourished his creative impulse which aims to go off the beaten track.
