The rue Émile-Zolahas Cherbourg-Octeville (delegated municipality of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, Manche), has been under construction since Monday June 3, 2024.
Burial of overhead networks
Several phases followed one another. The main objective was the burial of overhead power networks for one investment of €348,254 of the City of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin. The municipality took the opportunity to also restart the rainwater networks according to the information we obtained in June.
Entrusted to the company Inéo (subsidiary of Equans)l’undergrounding of networks is completed. But in order not to interrupt the electricity supply to houses, businesses or even the Thomas Hélye high school and the music conservatory, this burying of electrical lines was, of course, carried out while preserving the overhead networks.
It will therefore still be necessary to install these aerial networks which are, it is true, unsightly on the facades of the houses on the west side of this street. The site manager met on site also indicates that new candelabra will be installed. This should mark the end of the work.
Road renovation until December 13
In the meantime, theconstruction company Eurovia is responsible for taking over all curbs then cover the entire street, including sidewalks.
As during the first phases of work, the site’s base remains on rue Gibert. Vehicle circulation is prohibited but access to the parking lot located behind the Gibert school is maintained. The information posters for local residents explain that “diversions will be put in place in neighboring streets” and that “containers will be placed at the end of the streets for the collection of household waste. »
During this work, traffic in part of rue Loysel (from the intersection with rue Montebello to that with rue Emile-Zola) is in two directions but parking is prohibited.
Started on Monday October 28, 2024, this total road renovation work is planned until Friday December 13, 2024, excluding contingencies.
