After nearly two years of waiting, the most popular neo-western on American television will finally provide the answer to the question that all fans are asking: how will John Dutton end? But be careful, we may not be done with Yellowstone yet…
War is declared
The first part of season 5 of Yellowstone was broadcast so long ago that a little reminder of the facts couldn’t hurt. In the eighth and final episode, war was declared for control of the ranch between John (Kevin Costner) and his daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly) on one side, and his adopted son Jamie (Wes Bentley) on the other.
The latter decided the unthinkable by launching a dismissal procedure (impeachment) against his governor father and opposed to the construction of a pipeline in an indigenous reserve. John should therefore be indicted before a jury, and that does not please his daughter at all, who has decided to break into Jamie’s house and threaten him with all the violence and capacity for intimidation that characterizes her.
A very secret plot
Except that Jamie doesn’t give in, and Beth therefore decides to use drastic measures: she suggests to her father that he simply eliminate his adopted son. But of course, John doesn’t respond and leaves the suspense intact. As Jamie is not stupid either, he understood that his life was threatened, and that he himself was going to have to hire professional murderers.
That’s good, the businesswoman who has managed to insert herself into his life (Sarah Atwood) has exactly the contacts he needs. The trailer for this second part of season 5 of Yellowstone reveals almost nothing of the plot (the casting itself does not know it), but we still obviously understand that there is going to be blood and deaths.
A season 6 finally approaching?
However, contrary to what was initially planned, it will perhaps not be the final bouquet of Yellowstonebecause a season 6 would now be considered. Nothing indicates in the trailer that this part 2 of season 5 will be the last. What is certain, however, is that Kevin Costner should not appear there. The star actor of the series did not film in these new episodes due to schedule conflicts with the westerns he is directing, the saga Horizon (2024).
However, it is largely present in the trailer, which encourages us to imagine all the hypotheses. How will screenwriter Taylor Sheridan manage to make his main character disappear without the actor who plays him? Can John Dutton really die off-camera? Fans can’t wait any longer, but deliverance is coming very soon.
