The date is now official. The store Big Feelocated at 57 route du Vallon, in Val-Druel in Dieppe (Seine-Maritime), will open on November 27, 2024. The brand specializing in fresh products, fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, took the place of former laser game, Laser Dieppe, and MetaClim, a former industrial building.
When the arrival of the store in Dieppe was announced in December 2023, François Lefebvre, deputy mayor in charge of town planning, confided in our columns that the municipality was “not very happy with this establishment” , fearing in particular for the surrounding businesses, such as the Halles of Saint-Aubin-sur-Scie.
“We fear nothing”
Exactly, what do they think of it today? Overall, they are pretty calm. “We have nothing to fear,” assures Vincent Lafosse, manager of the delicatessen fishmonger Aux Délices de la Mer. “They don’t compete with us. »
“They don’t have the catering and homemade side like here,” adds one of the employees. It’s still sous-vide in a tray. »
Same story with the Biocoop store. “We’re not really worried. We have a loyal customer base and our products are organic,” underlines one of the managers.
The Au Jard’Hinfray greengrocer, however, is a little more worried. “We’ll see,” says the manager. We can’t fight against it. The food industry fears them, it will impact everyone. »
“There will be curiosity. And they are well placed, people will inevitably stop,” said an employee.
If he believes that Grand Frais “will create jobs”, Vincent Lafosse is waiting to see the impact on businesses in downtown Dieppe. “Perhaps this will break the movement. And they have parking lots, easy access. Afterwards, we have to see if people will take advantage of local shops or not. »
