Tangier artist Sanae Regragui talks to us about her new role in the feature film “Diary Intimate” by Mohamed Chrif Tribak, distinguished by the directing prize at the twenty-fourth National Film Festival (FNF), which has just ended in Tangier.
ALM : What distinguishes your role in the film “Diary”?
Sane Regragui : Like the entire team of technicians and artists, I am proud and happy that “Diary Intimate” by Mohamed Chrif Tribak won the achievement prize during the last edition of the FNF in Tangier. Regarding my role in this new feature film, I played the character of a very curious and gossiping person in the buildings where the most important events took place. It’s the type of complicated and difficult role that I really enjoy playing in film and television productions.
What did you like about this new character?
In reality, “Diary” offered me the opportunity to play a new character that I have never played either in cinema or on television. As I just said, it’s the kind of role that requires talent and a lot of work on the part of the artist. In “Diary” I played the character of a maid who loves gossip and gossip and considers the stairs of the building as her own. For example, when she tries to block access to the young couple who want to go up and isolate themselves in an apartment.
How do you explain the fact that the majority of roles are played in films or television series directed by Mohamed Chrif Tribak?
I feel lucky and honored to work with director Mohamed Chrif Tribak, who allowed me to play my best roles in his works in cinema and television. Among which, the feature film “Little Happinesses”, where I played the character of the daughter-in-law with a strong and jealous personality, who considers her children more beautiful and better educated than those of other members of the family. I played the character of a director of a documentary film in the series “Morjana” by the same director. This character is very similar to me, especially from a personal point of view and training. Since I studied documentary filmmaking myself. Add to that my new beautiful role in “Diary”.
Don’t you think that you would be hated by the public because of your incarnation of certain evil and dishonest characters?
I never had the idea of being hated or hated because of my roles in films or television series. I like to play different types of characters and not repeat myself or limit myself to just one type of role. I want to be both at the same time, convinced and convincing in my choice of characters, as was the case for my roles in the two films “Little Joys” and “Diary”.
