On the occasion of the 34th edition of the cinematographic meetings of the ARP, the civil society of authors, directors and producers, Le Touquet welcomes nearly 400 professionals from the sector around debates on the future of cinema and preview screenings. first. An event, from Wednesday November 6 to Friday November 8, to which the public is of course invited.

This week, the seaside resort will have nothing to envy at the Film Festival. From Wednesday to Friday, cinema enthusiasts will be able to attend ten preview screenings. Among the films presented, Eventually by Claude Lelouch, with Kad Merad, the animated film The most valuable commodity by Michel Hazanavicius or the documentary on migratory tragedies Save Our Souls by Jean-Baptiste Bonnet.

Other films presented: Mikado by Baya Kasmi, with Ramzy Bédia, and Twenty Gods by young director Louise Courvoisier.

“The idea of ​​these meetings is to show an overview of the proposals for current auteur cinema in France,” specifies Caroline Santiard, director of cultural actions at the ARP. This diversity is also found in the choice of the co-presidents of this 34th edition, with two young directors: Céline Sallette (Nikireleased in theaters on October 9) and Thomas Cailley (The Animal Kingdom). “Every year, we work to renew our speakers. It’s important to appeal to the younger generation”she adds.

This event, created in 1987 at the initiative of filmmaker Claude Berri, is the meeting place “unavoidable” aimed at professionals. Filmmakers, producers and distributors meet there to discuss sector issues and find solutions. This year, questions around Artificial Intelligence, and the fight against sexist and sexual violence in cinema, are at the heart of a series of debates open to the public.

“AI is a technology that has been arriving at full speed in recent years”explains Joyce Dardanne, deputy general delegate of the ARP. “It raises the question of copyright and its ethical use.. Concerning violence within a film: what reaction to adopt in the face of an incident and what fate for the films”damaged” by the behavior of a professional on set? The ARP delegate assures us, the sector is “very willing” to prevent these situations and reflect on them.

An event which brings together 200 to 300 spectators each year in the seaside resort.

Previews take place at the Cinéma Les 3 As du Touquet, from Wednesday to Friday, at the single rate of 5 euros. The debates take place at the Palais des Congrès. The complete program can be found on the ARP website.
