In recent years, the Prix Marcel Laurent (Gr. II) has crowned numerous champions, like Ready Cash (2009 – 2010), Face Time Bourbon (2020), or even Idao de Tillard, who won the last two editions. This race contested over the 2,100 meters of the main track truly launches the meeting for this category of horses. This Monday noon, the official starters and the numbers behind the car for the 2024 edition were revealed. At the start, two Critérium winners, Josh Power (S. Ernault), crowned last September in the 5-year-old category, who will start with number 8, while Keep Going (M. Mottier), crowned in the 4 Years, will leave with the 7, just inside. Runner-up to Sébastien Ernault’s resident in the last group I, Jushua Tree (JM Bazire) will have number 6. Still on the front line, two competitors of Italian origin, the best Italian 5-year-old Dimitri Ferm (n°4 – Mr. Abrivard), who recently did public work for Turin and who will make his comeback in competition, and Deus Zack (n°2 – J.Ph. Monclin), already well known in and who notably placed second in group I on the other side of the Alps this summer. Jazzman Debailleul (n°1 – F. Nivard), Just A Gigolo (n°3 – D. Thomain), I’m Flying away (n°5 – E. Douaneau) and Justin Bold (n°9 – PY Verva) complete the first line. Jazzman (n°11) and Erica Jet (n°15) will represent the training of Laurent-Claude Abrivard in the second row, whileElise Ana (n°13), mare of Italian origin (winner of group III and placed in group II in Italy) will begin under the training of Nicolas Bazire, who will be installed at the sulky of Destiny Di Poggio (n°12), which remains a success on this course. Kamehameha (n°10), and Eat Vici (n°14), third in the Prix Pierre Van Troyen (Gr. III) during his last outing, will also be at the start.
