Joël Barral, Jean-Philippe Ruiz, Laurent Delancre and Thomas Reybard, these are four friends who love music and above all who weren’t afraid to take the plunge. “Seeing concerts on the nature base of Volx, we too wanted to organize them in styles that we liked, therefore rock and derivative aesthetics. And this place was also very nice for concerts in the summer“, explains the latter. “Quite naturally, we turned to the town hall, which was very enthusiastic. The mayor said that for anything that could keep Volx alive, he agreed“, adds Joël Barral.
This is how the Rock’n’Volx association was created in June 2021 and launched its festival of the same name at the start of the summer season. This Saturday, June 8, from 7 p.m., at the Pietramal nature base, it is already the third edition and the programming is intended to be of quality, but also local. “We really want to play local bands. So, this year, the group Cha, which comes from Embrun, is alternative rock. Les Marseillais de Pleasures, we’re more into rock-pop, more accessible and fun to dance to. Then Sandcastle, from Toulon, it’s a post punk-new wave aesthetic. Something a little edgier for the end of the evening. In any case, there is a real desire to keep rock alive in the region.“, presents Thomas Reybard.
Local groups in Volx
Mission more than accomplished for the association which also offers a second date in winter in the Volx village hall. They are, however, not the only ones to carry out this mission, because at the same time, Rock in Villeneuve was launched by the 1970 association. A festival which is also celebrating its third edition this year.
