- The troupe Les Saltimbanques de la Butte returns with a new comedy.
- The show is called “Cherpines cursed treasure” and will begin on November 7.
- The main theme: the hazards of real estate construction in Cherpines.
- Jean-Pierre Passerat directs this humorous production.
From November 7 and for eight evenings, the troupe Les Saltimbanques de la Butte will be back on the stages of the Plan-les-Ouates community hall with “Cherpines maudit Trésor”. After discussing the takeover of power by women in their previous show in 2022, they are back with a comedy about the hazards of real estate construction in Cherpines. Humor, song, dance will be an integral part of the show.
Jean-Charles Magnin, author of the dialogues of the new play, recounts the genesis of the Saltimbanques de la Butte and their new comedy. “Originally, we were a group of friends from the Plan-les-Ouates football club. For several years, we have been putting together a revue about the FC PLO to liven up our annual evening. The municipal authorities offered us to take up the torch of the Revue de Plan-les-Ouates. Indeed, until the end of the 90s, the association of peasant ladies of Plan-les-Ouates put together a magazine in which they mocked the news of the commune. We took up the challenge and after forming an association, we produced two magazines which were very successful in the town. This was in 2017 and 2019. In 2022 we opted for a different format. It was a comedy about “Female Power”. This show was sold out every night.
Enthusiasm
How did the idea for the new show come about? “Well in 2023, our troupe went to the Avignon festival to attend several performances. It was there that, driven by enthusiasm, we decided to put on a new show. This would be centered on a current theme in Plan-les-Ouates, namely the construction of the new Cherpines district and its potential real estate abuses.
Songs, dances, dialogues
Jean-Charles Magnin says that a first working group was then set up to develop the main thread of the piece. Then several members of the troupe divided up the different aspects of the creation of the show. Christine Monnet and Aldo Iorio composed the songs, the young Stepik dancers created the choreographies, and he was responsible for the dialogues. Indeed, “Cherpines cursed treasure” is intended to be a comedy close to magazines in its spirited and humorous character but also in its use of music, dance and song. It is the Genevan director Jean-Pierre Passerat who is at the helm of this large crew of no less than twenty actors, to which are added the Stepik dancers and several musicians.
“Cherpines maudit Trésor” will be performed at the Plan-les-Ouates community hall on November 7, 8, 9, 13, 14,15, 16 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 10 at 5:00 p.m. Reservations can be made by email to the following address: [email protected]
