Vince McMahon removed Cameron Grimes from WWE shows

Cameron Grimes was fired from WWE in April 2024 and today continues his career on the independent scene. During a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, the wrestler accused Vince McMahon of removing him from the scripts of several SmackDowns and that it was complicated for him to return after that.

Cameron Grimes tells us:

“When I was drafted, there was still kind of a power struggle. Vince [McMahon] was gone, but not completely. Hunter was in charge, but not in complete control. I was on the script, except Vince would then go over it and change everything. I don’t think he really liked the NXT guys. The changes often involved me being removed from the show. This lasted for a few months, until Vince left for good and Hunter actually took over.

There, we had to find a way to bring back this guy who hadn’t been on screen for some time. How do you reintroduce him into such a popular show at the moment? At that time, we were building WrestleMania [40]. We were building the story of the Bloodline and we had two hours of show. An hour is devoted to a promo on the company’s most popular story, also featuring women and other stars.

I came up with lots of ideas because it was driving me crazy. A lot of people in the industry say, ‘You’re paid, so shut up.’ But that’s not why I was there, I wanted to be in the ring. I went to the writers and proposed ideas to try to find a solution. They have a very stressful job and it doesn’t help when I ask them to work every week. This is WWE, the best of the best. When you’re fighting to be on the show, you have to take the opportunities to the fullest, and I don’t think I took full advantage of the moments I could have.”
