Six years after the singer’s death, his former villa is available for rental.

A thousand-year-old olive tree with earth brought from Armenia, a gypsy caravan offered by the Gipsy Kings, eight double rooms with Venetian and Andalusian influences… Charles Aznavour died on October 1, 2018 at the age of 94 in his Provencal villa in Mouriès but his touch is still very present there.

Anxious to preserve the singer’s legacy, his neighbor Richard put all his savings into acquiring this 660m2 house, estimated at more than 2 million euros, four years ago.

The residence is now available for rental, notably on the Airbnb and Booking platforms. And this for seven nights minimum for around 6,500 euros. Its maximum capacity is 16 people.

“I rent it to meet the needs of the house,” explains this restaurateur from Fos-sur-Mer.

While the biopic “Monsieur Aznavour” was released in theaters around ten days ago, it opened the doors of this three-hectare estate at BFM Provence this Saturday, November 2.

The estate produces its olive oil

The entire property was entirely designed by Charles Aznavour when he settled in this small town in Bouches-du-Rhône located an hour’s drive from Marseille in the early 1990s.

“He completely created this house and it calmed him down a lot. From the balcony, he could watch over the estate, keep an eye on what was happening,” says Richard.

The Franco-Armenian interpreter notably had an indoor swimming pool built and no less than 600 olive trees planted. The estate also produces olive oil called Aigo Claro, a name whose initials “AC” were chosen to recall “Aznavour Charles”.

Many stars as neighbors

Today, almost all the decoration has been changed to bring a modern side but the rooms have remained the same. Whether it was the different rooms or the cinema room with red armchairs, where Charles Aznavour watched films or his concerts.

If he chose to rest in the Montfort-l’Amaury cemetery, in , 770 km from Mouriès, the artist lived the last years of his life there alone with his butler and sometimes his nurse.

Like him, many stars have taken up residence in the Alpilles massif such as Michel Drucker, Omar Sy, Charlotte de Turckheim and even Hugh Grant.
