It was in 2007 that a very young choir director took the reins of the Union Chorale de Maubourguet choir under the presidency of Lucette Sarrade. For seventeen years, Juliette Salanne developed this magnificent choir, which has around fifty members, by giving it a very British touch. Beautiful English voices, female and male, came to strengthen the choir. But now the ax has fallen for Juliette, who has taken on new professional roles.
As a singing teacher at the Henri Duparc conservatory in Tarbes, it was difficult for him to continue his mission within the Cantadour choir. After a long, carefully considered reflection, Juliette made the difficult decision to leave the Maubourguetoise choir, which she led to a very high level of singing.
During all these years, the choir director, “our little Juliette”, as some call her, has led the Maubourguetoise choir to the top of its art, with concerts of great vocal quality, such as the Brel concert at the center cultural Jean Glavany de Maubourguet, or the major concerts at the church of Maubourguet and in Bayonne alongside a Basque choir. A page is turning at the Cantadour choir in Maubourguet, where Juliette Salanne leaves grandiose memories for all the choristers, both through her human personality and her professionalism. She will hold the baton one last time, certainly with immense emotion, for her last concert, Sunday November 10, at the Maubourguet cultural center, at 5 p.m. This concert, entitled “Patchwork by Juliette”, will be an opportunity for the public to meet the new choir director, presented by President Henri-Paul Nouvellon, who will take the reins of the Cantadour de Maubourguet choir.
