A series for the youngest?
The story revolves around four children who discover a ship in an ancient Jedi temple, before being lost in the depths of space. Under the protection of Jod Na Nawood, whose motivations remain ambiguousthey encounter various perils: space pirates, aggressive droids and alien creatures. The series taps into the atmosphere of ’80s adventure films, enhanced by the music of Peter Schilling’s Major Tom. The trailer can be seen below:
Alongside Jude Law, the cast brings together Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Ryan Kiera Armstrong and Robert Timothy Smith, who embody the children lost in the galaxy. In the original version, Nick Frost lends his voice to the droid SM-33, the team’s faithful companion. The episodes are directed by several renowned directors, such as Jon Watts, Bryce Dallas Howard, David Lowery and the Daniels duo (to whom we owe the incredible film Everything Everywhere All at Once
which we highly recommend), all with the aim of offering a wide variety of visual styles.
An original approach to the Star Wars universe
With this more family orientation, Skeleton Crew hopes to expand the Star Wars universe. Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, writers and executive producers, collaborated with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni to anchor the series in the already established universe. The series introduces new worlds and characters, while fitting into the franchise’s familiar narratives.
Consisting of eight episodes, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will begin with a double broadcast on December 3. You can then follow the rest with your family… or not! Do you think it’s a good idea to rejuvenate the franchise a little? Besides, tell us: Which Star Wars series do you like the most, and which ones do you like least? ?
