Artus’ film “A little something extra” is a hit at the box office.

CULTURE – After climbing the steps of the Cannes Film Festival, the entire film team A little something extra is expected on the steps of the presidential palace. The magazine Paris Match reveals this Wednesday, May 29 that director Artus will present his actors to Emmanuel Macron, “during June”and that the film will be screened at the Élysée.

A meeting which will allow those accompanying actors with disabilities to make complaints to the president: “ I will not miss this unique opportunity. We want to leave with real information and real changes”confirms the mother of Sofian Ribes, one of the actors.

A success in fighting for better inclusion

The monstrous success of the feature film, which on Monday May 27 became the biggest success in French theaters in 2024, has already allowed the film team to get closer to the government. Agent Lara Sarciaux was notably able to accompany a delegation to the Senate to “ improve the laws put in place in 2005 for disabled artists », she tells our colleagues, who made their front page on the film. She was able to mention “their allowances, support for educators, everything necessary to facilitate their inclusion…”

Furthermore, on the sidelines of the Cannes Festival, cinema personalities (Léa Drucker, Alexandra Lamy and Eric Toledano) signed a platform, on Releasefor a ” reform of the status of intermittent entertainment workers, aimed at disabled artists » in cinema and on TV.

But the road to integration still remains long. When going up the steps, Artus had to carry actor Sofian Ribes, who uses a wheelchair. “It is no longer acceptable to see these kinds of images, it is an attack on the dignity of the person, to have to be carried to the top”subsequently commented the Minister Delegate in charge of disabled people, Fadila Khattabi, in the newspaper Nice morning. Before adding: “Next year, the steps must be accessible.”

The first film by actor Artus attracted 4.5 million spectators in less than a month on screen, becoming the biggest success of the year in theaters ahead of Dune, part two. “In these somewhat anxiety-provoking times, it’s a film that feels good” and which allows you to discover “a population that we don’t often see”the director estimated to explain this rush into cinemas.
