“When you’re at rock bottom, you give up… you need a good kick in the ass. » Alexis readily acknowledges this. The arrival of Philippe Etchebest in the kitchen of his restaurant in Thoissey (Ain), located between Lyon and Mâcon, was a real shock.

The episode of Nightmare in the Kitchen filmed in his creperie, “Chez le Père Alex”, was broadcast on M6 on Friday October 18, 2024. The restaurateur speaks on behind the scenes of the show and hopes that the nightmare will finally end.

No misinformation, Philippe Etchebest is “without filter”

“During filming, it’s complicated. There is no falsehood, it’s the real thing. We’re in real life,” Alexis tells us. When chef Philippe Etchebest came, the Aindinois experienced a great moment of stress. “There is a great chef who is there, in my kitchen… He is without filter. He tells the truth and it’s good to hear, it allows us to move forward. »

He describes him as someone very human. “We’re still having a hard time,” he adds. But according to Alexis, he needed it. “It’s a great experience to have, it was complicated for me financially… it was even a disaster. So I played my last card by calling them. I have everything to gain and nothing to lose. »


“I felt like I was in a movie, or rather a nightmare”

We let ourselves be carried away by the wave of the show. The day Philippe Etchebest came, I had the impression of being in a film or rather in a nightmare. I didn’t know what was happening when I got home. Then, we realize that we are in the show and that we are there to reenergize ourselves.

From there, Alexis let himself be guided by the production which completely redecorated his restaurant and changed his cuisine. “I took over a company that had a “dinette”, I didn’t have any real equipment. Now, I have a professional kitchen and we changed the menu by reviewing the creperie concept. »

Will Alexis save his restaurant?

Products that are easy to work with, homemade… this is what Alexis is now moving towards, awaiting customers. “We closed this weekend to see the fallout from the show. It’s 80% positiveeven if there are always critics. We have had a reservation for the moment,” he confides tonews Lyon.
