The installation of the footbridge as part of the multimodal exchange hub (PEM) project Valves (Morbihan) leads to a interruption of rail traffic November 1 to 3, 2024 in South . The line between (Ille-et-Vilaine) and (Finistère) will undergo changes during the All Saints’ Day weekend.

For what reason?

The gateway for use of pedestrians and cyclists will be put into service atfall 2025. For several months, the deck of the future footbridge has been being prepared. “Made up of three pieces called “spans”, this cycle-pedestrian connection was custom designed, made to measure, by experienced craftsmen. Today, all these reinforced concrete spans are ready,” indicates SNCF Gares & Connexions.

Crane operation is scheduled for All Saints’ Day weekend. Trains will not be able to run for security reasons.

When will traffic be interrupted?

The crane operation will take place between Friday November 1, 1:35 p.m. and Sunday, November 3, 1:05 p.m.. The rail traffic (TER BreizhGo, TGV Inoui and OUIGO) will be interrupted totally between Auray and Redon.

A replacement coach service will be provided. In total, 118 coaches are planned to run: 38 coaches on Friday, 66 coaches on Saturday and 14 coaches on Sunday.

In addition, this project entails the removal and replacement of certain trains by coaches on the line between Rennes and Quimper (normal traffic between Quimper and ).

Why this date?

Why this choice of All Saints’ Day during school holidays in a very touristy area? According to SNCF, the choice was made several years ago:

Requiring significant anticipation, the period chosen for this work has been reserved for several years. It was designed to allow travelers to go to their destination at the start of the weekend, then to make their return journey, from the beginning of the afternoon on Sunday.

Travelers will have to make other arrangements for All Saints’ Day.
