Star dancer Rahmane Belkebiche ruptured his Achilles tendon while performing on Sunday evening during the final round of head-to-head matches.

The ex-camper Get me out of here! was in his first presence on stage of the evening when the incident occurred, thereby interrupting the first face-to-face of the evening.

The dancer was quickly taken care of by the medical team, before returning to the edge of the stage later in the evening, in a wheelchair, to support his accomplice during the resumption of the face-to-face, at the very end of the episode.

Sunny Boisvert therefore tried his luck, alone, in front of the “monsters of streetstyle”, J. Style and Valmont, by repeating part of his choreography created with Rahmane and adding a few pieces of improvisation.

The masters generally leaned towards the aspirants, emphasizing the great camaraderie and mutual respect which emanated from the four dancers, who knew each other well.

“It was a lot of emotion,” Valmont emphasized during an interview with the QMI Agency.

Sensitive to the situation and very empathetic towards his opponents, he also confided that he found it difficult to position himself at the time of the incident, knowing that withdrawing was not an option.

“When the event happened, it shook us up. We had to recalibrate. […] But, in our opinion, not wanting to return on stage and give 100% was a bit of a lack of respect in the situation. We wanted to honor this face-to-face, especially since our opponents wanted to come back on stage and resume the face-to-face,” continued J. Style.

“Put in this situation, we said to ourselves that Sunny was going to give everything and he is a great opponent. We just had to put all our energy into it and go all out because the situation was not benefiting anyone,” he added, stressing that the long wait had allowed anxiety and fatigue takes over.

“It was physically and mentally challenging,” he said, delighted to have been able to participate in the competition.

For the future, the duo which was formed during the pandemic is aiming for audacity, underlined Valmont. “It’s the word of the year: audacity. I think our pair is versatile. We have a particular aesthetic, but we have several things to offer and I think that’s what we’re banking on for the next rounds; show different sides of us,” added the dancer who notably completed a DEC in contemporary dance, then a BAC in dance at Concordia.

“We also want to continue to be an example for the communities we represent, whether young people, men who want to dance, communities in disadvantaged neighborhoods. We want to continue to be an example for these people through our messages and the audacity that we want to promote. We also want to continue to deepen our duo and our choreographic writing,” added his partner.

J. Style and Valmont are two professional dancers familiar with different street styles, such as hip-hop, popping and brock-up. They entered into the adventure, after having often been asked by production, to assert their identity and promote their extraordinary proposal to the show’s audience.

Next week at Revolutionthe masters will introduce the participants to a completely new stage of the competition: the masters challenge. A round designed especially for star season.

Revolution is broadcast on Sundays at 7:30 p.m., on TVA, and can be replayed at any time on TVA+.
