CANNES FESTIVAL – Love makes you “wow” and even makes you see double. François Civil and Adèle Exarchopoulos climbed the steps of the Cannes Film Festival this Thursday, May 23, before the screening of Love phew by Gilles Lellouche. And the two headliners, who play a couple madly in love in this film competing for the Palme d’Or, were accompanied by young versions of themselves.

François Civil and Adèle Exarchopoulos posed on the red carpet alongside Malik Frikah and Mallory Wanecque, the actors playing their characters as teenagers. And there is indeed an air of resemblance between them, as you can see in our video at the top of the article. A good part of the five-star cast chosen by Gilles Lellouche also made the trip to Cannes.

Alain Chabat, Vincent Lacoste, Jean-Pascal Zadi, Élodie Bouchez and Raphaël Quenard took the steps alongside them.

Inspired by the novel of the same name by Irish author Neville Thompson, Love Phew tells the tumultuous love story between two young people from a disadvantaged neighborhood (from the north of France in Gilles Lellouche’s adaptation, and not from Dublin) in the 1980s and 1990s.

With a budget of 32 million euros, it is one of the most anticipated French films of the year 2024. On the program: a lot of love but also friendship and a good dose of violence and of blood. Unlike the Cannes Festival jury, you will still have to wait until October 16 to discover it in the cinema.
